Praying for our Return to England

On May 27th we returned to California after we were given a deadline to leave England by June 1, if we did not have a new sponsor. We did get a new sponsor, but then they were curtailed also. We were not able to get another new sponsor in time to stay, so now we are in the states praying for a new sponsor that will not be curtailed. There is one church that we know of that would like to do sponsorship, but would need a full time administrator to deal with immigration, keep records and weekly reports on those being sponsored.
Currently, we are visiting in Washington State with many wonderful people who are standing with us in prayer and trusting God for the road ahead. Pray for those we will be meeting with this week.
We are staying in Running Springs, California with Nick and Sara and our four granddaughters. They are finishing up paperwork for their adoption in China and hope to be traveling there before long to receive their new baby.
Also our daughter, Melissa, is planning on coming to California in September with our new grandson, Fred. Pray that Fred will receive his American passport soon.
Pray for the time that Tom and I are in the states, that it will be fruitful and many will come to know Jesus.

Prayer Request for Gloucester

Isaiah 9:2 “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined.”

Today Janis is going to walk us over to the park for tea and an open air service to share what God has put on our hearts. The Lord has shown us a need for hope in Gloucester, to bring a message of hope to the hopeless. Col.1:27
Please pray for us today as we go out in Jesus name for the glory of God.

November 2014 Newsletter Highlights

“And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” Rev. 22:1-2

During our time in York, England for our daughter Melissa’s baby shower, Costa came to Jesus when we found him near the coffee shop of Calvary Chapel York one cold, dark morning as we met for prayer meeting. Please pray for Costa to have a right relationship with his wife and God’s will for his continuing studies at the university.

Tom and I have been praying for the Gloucester Cathedral next door to us. They are teaching that there are myths in the Bible such as Pharoah and the ten plagues, also Revelation 22:1 about the river of life.
Please pray for this church for complete repentance, restoration, and acceptance of God’s Word as truth. Also that the Lord would direct Tom and I in our prayers and involvement with our neighbors at the cathedral.

Please pray for Tom as he speaks at the Congregational church on our street in Gloucester on November 16th. Then we will be leaving for York, so Tom can attend a UK pastor’s prayer meeting for Creation Fest.

We are blessed to be with Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa and now also Go Ministries/Calvary Chapel Norco who will assist those interested in recurring automatic withdrawls from their debit or credit cards. You can go online at go.ccnorco.org, our missionary account number is 1321. If you are fine with your current giving arrangements you can continue with CCCM.

Thank you, Tom & Cheryl

Moving to Gloucester August 28

Thank you to all who have prayed for our new home. Last week Melissa (our daughter) drove us to downtown Gloucester to meet the landlord and see our new apartment (maisonette). We are one block from the Gloucester Cathedral where I will be going to pray regularly. There is going to be a lot of spiritual warfare as we seek the Lord to remove the strongholds that have existed for centuries. Please put on Ephesians chapter 6, the full armor of God, and stand with us. We know that Jesus has already won the victory and we look forward to knowing those who will come to Him, being released from this present darkness.

Arrival in York, England

Tom and I had a good flight from California for the most part, I was briefly locked in the bathroom (fortunuately, I was freed before claustrophobia set in). Then we arrived in York and enjoyed walking around the city until I sprained my ankle. Tom was praying for more rest and quiet time for me and the Lord answered! I am currently reading “Revivals of Religion” by Charles Finney. I am enjoying the chapter on “Meetings for Prayer.” Another blessing of spraining my ankle was meeting a lot of nice people in York who stopped to help me. Our prayer request for now is that we would be a comfort to the people who are hurting in Gloucester. We will be in York this month for the women’s conference and pastor/leadership conference. Please continue to pray for a place to live in Gloucester. It was a great blessing to open a bank account which has not been easy for foreigners to do in the past, this will help us to find a place more easily. Thank you all for your prayers.

June Newsletter 2014

“The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell in it forever. The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of justice. The law of his God is in his heart, none of his steps shall slide. The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him. The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged. Wait on the Lord, and keep His way, and He shall exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.” Psalm 37:29-34

“Hallelujah! We have our UK visa.” It was quite a process after waiting for over a year to start the visa process. The UK visa website was in the midst of making changes and what should have taken 3 to 4 hours turned into a month and half. There were obstacles each time we tried to answer questions or gather information. Then as we reached the end of the process most of Tom’s online application evaporated from the UK website. We learned that people had paid two and three times for a new application. On faith we gathered our documents and what we had of our applications and took them to Fed Ex to mail to New York. Then as we were sitting at home a couple of hours later Tom asked if I had signed everything and I said, “No.”  We called Fed Ex as they were near closing time and went back and I signed the paper work with two minutes to spare. The following week we received our visas and know that God miraculously interceded on our behalf.  Thank you Jesus!

The next day we were able to book our plane tickets which will take us to Manchester, England. We will be staying with our daughter and her husband in York. We are thankful for God’s perfect timing as we will be in York for the UK Pastor’s and Leadership Conference on June 23rd-26th. It will be a wonderful time of fellowship as we have opportunity to meet pastors from all over the UK. Tom and I will be praying for wisdom and direction in the new venture of faith in Gloucester as we look forward to finding a place for the church, a place to live and getting to know the people. Tom and I are so grateful to all the wonderful saints who have prayed for Gloucester. There are those who have been praying for many years and we look forward to the privilege of seeing those prayers answered as people come to Christ in Gloucester.Image

After coming back from Africa in December 2012, Tom went through many and various trials. He has endured many physical issues which seemed to be overwhelming at times. There was much waiting and crying out to God for help and understanding. We know we are not the only ones. As you seek the Lord daily, the Lord says, “For I know the plans I have for you, they are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen.” It is hard to wait and face many obstacles, but God is more concerned about forming us into His image and that is not easy. We live in a culture where suffering and waiting are not looked upon favorably, yet these are often the vehicles to healing and restoration. We pray that you all will have courage and strength for the road ahead. Jesus is coming soon and we want to be ready, being about our Father’s business. He loves you and will provide for all your needs as you follow Him. Thank you for continuing to stand with Tom and I on the path to Gloucester. God Bless You!
